2022 Elections – Nomination, Eligibility requirements and Schedule

Eligibility criteria for the Candidates:
BOD Candidates: Must have become Life Members on/before December 31, 2020
Executive Committee Candidates
a) Must have become Life Members on/before December 31, 2021.
Or
b) Must have been Members in 2021 and 2022 with membership fee for year 2021 paid on/before December 31, 2021, and membership fee for year 2022 paid on/before March 31, 2022.

Nomination requirements for the Candidates:
Self-nomination form along with a passport-size photo and a short biography (up to 500 words) that includes: their vision, past service to TRICIA, future service ideas/plans, and any other not-for-profit experience, if applicable. No use of TRICIA logo or any TRICIA property.

Nomination Submission and Election Schedule:
1) TRICIA NEC will send details of Nomination process including Election Guidelines and Nomination Forms by email to the TRICIA Members on September 20, 2022.
2) Interested candidates must send their Self-nomination forms, including the photo and short biography as stated above, by email to tricianec2022@gmail.com latest by September 27, 2022 4:00 PM EST or to NEC mailbox at TRICIA NEC – 2022 P. O. Box 4957 Halfmoon, NY-12065 postmarked by September 27, 2022.
3) NEC in concert with TRICIA Secretary will verify Self-nominations received. The list of self-nominations sent by email will be published on the website by the end of the day on September 27, 2022.
4) Self-nominations sent by post will be collected on October 1, 2022 and Announcement of final list candidates to TRICIA members (by email with website link) on October 1, 2022.
5) Self-nomination withdrawal date is October 3, 2022 before 4.00 PM EST by email only at tricianec2022@gmail.com.
6) Final list of contestants will be posted on TRICIA website and TRICIA Members will be informed by email by October 3, 2022.
7) Absentee Ballots Request will be accepted only via email at tricianec2022@gmail.com from 10:00 am on September 25, 2022 until 4:00 pm on October 5, 2022 directly from the member. Only one email per household. Please write the name and address of the requester in the email.
8) Absentee Ballots will be mailed out on October 6, 2022.
9) Absentee Ballots must be returned post marked on or before October 14, 2022.
10) Elections will be held on October 22, 2022 (11:00 am until 4:00 pm) at the Hindu Cultural Center, Albany, NY.
11) Election Results will be announced on October 22, 2022.

Eligibility to Vote: All members who paid membership on or before August 31, 2022 are eligible. Membership List will be available in TRICIA website.
No Canvasing on days of the election inside the premises of HCC or in the parking lot. Candidates are not allowed inside the room where the voting will take place. Candidates can designate one person for observing election and voting. The designee’s are not allowed to do any type of canvasing. Designee’s information must be communicated to NEC two days prior to the election date (October 22, 2022).

Any questions related to nomination and election process etc should be directed to TRICIA NEC via email at tricianec2022@gmail.com. All other questions will be directed to the board for clarification.
